Fr. John Harvey is a clever man, but he is rather rude. Does he wonder why so many young people are leaving the church? Because they don't get anything out of it, they go there, listen to him prattle on about how not enough donations are being made to the church (probably so he can upgrade is 42 inch HD TV to a 64 inch 4K TV) and the consistent glares and glib remarks people get. Being a Catholic priest can't be easy, I get that, but, well, you're supposed to connect with your parishioners instead of only pleasing your elitist little clique. I feel John definitely makes a good priest intellectually and spiritually, but emotionally, he is better suited as an investment banker. I'll keep a look out for updates Jonny Boy. Hope you change.
Very good relaxed playgroup in church hall on a Thursday morning. 2 entry fee includes coffee and kids squash. Lots of variety of toys.
Myself & my partner was welcomed into the parish 12yrs ago by father John, when we moved to our first home in Loughton. He soon married us, baptised our children & continued to play a part in our lives. I will be the first to admit, that modern day life can often get tough. Juggling work, children's activities & Mass is sometimes hard. My weekly attendance has altered throughout the years. Although my genuine love for the parish has not.And off course, it is father john's duty to remind us the importance of weekly mass. Even if sometimes it may be hard to hear. But something he said today really hit a nerve... "it is my job to get you into heaven" Father John truly believes this. For every person in his parish. Even though I have struggled with my beliefs. I have never felt as though father did not care. He knows nearly every parishioner by name. When he visits St John fisher, he will know almost every child's name. watching him when he asks the children questions (unaware of what the next amusing answer might be) always makes him smile.I have not written this review for approval nor acknowledgement. Only to voice my experience of Father John. And to be honest... anyone who would believe it was their duty to help me into heaven... deserves a Thank you.
Everyone is welcome here. Good place for a prayer, but also to meet with friendly people.
